Just a random loose tire, bouncing along...

  1. Reminds me of the time our '58 Chevy was in the shop and they gave us a '49 Ford to drive. I'm driving to school when I saw a tire rolling down the road ahead of us. "Hmmm, I wonder where that came from?", as our left front axle dropped to the pavement.

  2. In my days, I've seen 3 random tires rolling down the freeway. The last occurred while I was on a motorcycle, which could have been painful had I not seen the tire and accelerated ahead of it. Houston traffic, always fun.

  3. We were hauling a load of sheep on a '53 flatbed Dodge up from the valley on Mono grade when Dad woke me up and says, "Hey look, there goes some poor fool's wheel!" And then the back end settled (crashed) to the pavement. I had to go fetch the tire out of a little trailer park below the road where fortunately a trailer had successfully blocked it from going any further. I don't knocking on the door. I just grabbed it off the front porch and scooted.
