Russians.

It's like someone in Russia said, "let's build the most awesome, over the top, rocket shooting plane the world has ever seen!" Then everyone looked at each other and shouted, " Da!"

  1. When an aircraft is flying at an altitude that is approximately at or below the same distance as the aircraft's wingspan or helicopter's rotor diameter, there is a noticeable ground effect. Lower induced drag, increases the speed and lift of the aircraft.

I know that you're making a bit of fun of the ekranoplane (in this case, the "Caspian Sea Monster") but USGOV worried about them because the science behind them is sound even if the execution of the concept borders on eccentric.

    1. Borders? That's one crazy insane plane, made more so because of the soundness of the science behind it. It's the kind of thing a mad physics professor would fly.

    1. And I stand slack jawed at it's magnificence. It did work, the science was sound, and it looked like the airplane of a mad scientist. Cheers, Russians! You did good.
