The best photo of the iridescent cloud phenomenon I've seen yet

It looks like the remains of a contrail from a plane that seriously lost it's way.

  1. I''ve seen this sans irridecence (sp) . They (fighter jets) run practice runs in geometric patterns, probably to calibrate stuff. I've seen three or more contrail rectangles, maybe 20 clicks on a side (and probably to magnetic NSEW almost in the same track over the nearshore ocean several times.

  2. A fairly frequent phenomenon in the SW US. Missle launches at White Sands in the early morning hours with the sun rising behind (east of) the contrails. There was alot ofd these when they tested the Patriot Missles. Many of the early tests went bad as evidenced by extremely erratic trails, some with obvious detonations at the end.
