A DOJ official gets bitchy with a USA Today reporter; nothing unusual, right?

After all, the MSM has to be reminded that they answer to The One.

Here is the exchange between the reporter and the angry, uncooperative DOJ official.

The gist of it is summarized at the Huffington Post like this:

"A Department of Justice official's testy email exchange with a USA Today reporter has received a lot of criticism after it was posted online on Thursday.
The correspondence begins in medias res, with investigative reporter Brad Heath pressing DOJ spokesperson Brian Fallon for information about a story he wrote on the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court. Heath had filled out a Freedom of Information Act request for a piece on why the Department of Justice didn't look into judges' concerns about the scope of NSA power.
Fallon fired back that he wouldn't provide the information he was referring to because he believed Heath was biased and wouldn't use the information fairly. Fallon had already provided comments about the inquiry.
"You are not actually open-minded to the idea of not writing the story," he said. "You are running it regardless. I have information that undercuts your premise, and would provide it if I thought you were able to be convinced that your story is off base. Instead, I think that to provide it to you would just allow you to cover your bases, and factor it into a story you still plan to write. So I prefer to hold onto the information and use it after the fact, with a different outlet that is more objective about whether an OPR inquiry was appropriate."

However, the amazing thing about this is that over at the Huffington Post - The Huffington post - the comments about the behavior and honesty of the DOJ are almost universally negative!

Have some of the liberal LIV's come around to see and smell the rot pervading our government under the Obama administration?  It seems that many have, comparing the administration's treatment of their own press lapdogs as Nixonian.  And calling something "Nixonian" is the ultimate insult to these people.

If the administration has lost the readers of the Huffington Post, then they have lost the trust of even their most ardent and blinkered disciples.

This could well auger for an interesting election next year.  My prediction is that the Rand Paul types benefit  most, as libertarian beliefs now are gaining appeal with both the Tea Party herd and the liberals who read rags like the Huffington Post.  When those two disparate groups can find common ground, the Fascists in the current government had better be worried.

  1. Hillary will repudiate everything that Barack has done -- while being his hand puppet. I certainly hope that we can flush out the people who currently have power in the Beltway. 2014 will tell us which way the pendulum is swinging. Nothing would be finer than to see a Republican controlled Senate.
